mLumbarDiscHerniation is a series of 3D animation movies with English voice-over that introduce the complicated pathology of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation disease using easy to understand 3D anatomically accurate animated movies.
mLumbarDiscHerniation is designed to be used by anyone seeking an introductory understanding of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation disease.
mLumbarDiscHerniation is part of the Lumbar Spine Library of patient education 3D animations.
FEATURES
Receiving text descriptions or still image education about complicated three-dimensional pathology is inefficient and often ineffective. This is especially so for newcomers to human anatomy and pathology.
mLumbarDiscHerniation provides an accurate, easy to understand introduction to lumbar intervertebral disc herniation disease. Tap on the movie’s name to play the movie. Tap on the movie screen to reveal the movie scroll and audio volume control bars. Examine some sample movies here
BENEFITS
mLumbarDiscHerniation has the following potential benefits:
- more detailed education (anatomically correct with 3D orientation views) without the disadvantages of real tissues (small images, restricted position orientation, unclear structure differentiation by color or texture, blood)
- improved treatment understanding, compliance, outcome and satisfaction
CONTENT
The movies include
- Compressive Forces
- discusses the compressive forces applied to the spine during movement.
- Discs Weakened by
- discusses the factors that can weaken the intervertebral discs' ability to withstand the compressive forces.
- Minor Disc Injuries
- discusses how excessive forces applied to the back can cause minor injuries to the intervertebral discs. As these accumulate, they lead to wear and tear of the spine’s discs and facet joints.
- Disc Herniation
- shows how small annulus tears accumulate, leading to annulus weakness, through which a disc bulge can form. This can cause pain, and can also lead to a disc extrusion and then a sequested disc.
- Cauda Equina Syndrome
- shows how a large herniation can cause a cauda equina syndrome.
- Conservative Treatment
- discusses the conservative (non-surgical) treatment options for an acute disc herniation.
FEATURES
- each movie has a photo library from the movie.
- movies reside on device for instant access
- free upgrades
